Alloy 601 is a nickel chromium alloy used for applications that require resistance to corrosion and heat. The composition is a face-centered-cubic solid solution with a high degree of metallurgical stability. It provides resistance to many corrosive media in high temperature environments. The oxidation resistance is further enhanced by the aluminum content. The alloy 601 develops a tightly adherent oxide scale which resists pitting and chloride stress corrosion cracking even under conditions of severe thermal cycling. This alloy has a good high temperature strength and retains its ductility after long service exposure.
Characteristics
- Oxidation resistance by high temperatures
- Highly resistant to carburization
- High mechanical strength
- Good creep rupture strength
- Good weldability
- Not suggested for use in strongly reducing, sulfur leaving environments
Market applications:
- Heat treating industry
- Chemical processing
- Power plants
- Aerospace
- Industrial furnaces
